Red Coats & Rebels: New Hampshire and the American Revolution
Wednesday, April 29th, 7:00 pm at the Chesterfield Town Hall
Sponsored by the Chesterfield Historical Society
Presented by Mary Adams: New Hampshire is often overlooked in the American Revolution narrative — but the Granite State has a remarkable revolutionary story to tell. Few know that Paul Revere's first ride was to Portsmouth in December 1774, five months before Concord and Lexington, or that two-thirds of Bunker Hill's troops were from New Hampshire. In January 1776, New Hampshire became the first state to adopt its own constitution, effectively declaring independence six months before anyone else. Through the New Hampshire Humanities program, Mary Adams will bring that history to life, exploring the overlooked figures, forgotten battles, and bold decisions that shaped not just a state, but a nation.
