Spice Club: Tales from the Spice Rack

Monday, May 11th at 6:00 pm
From ancient trade routes to modern kitchens, spices connect the past and present. This presentation by Professor Laura Tilghman from New Hampshire Humanities, explores cloves and vanilla- two spices largely grown in Madagascar. Grown by small-scale farmers using traditional methods, these spices carry a long history while facing modern challenges like climate change, market swings, and artificial flavors. Learn how everyday ingredients reveal the people and global systems behind what we eat.
