From the Andes to the Stars: Exploring Chile’s Astronomical Observatories
Thursday, November 13th at 6:30 pm
Local science educator Susan Rolke will share her experiences as one of just 10 global ambassadors selected for the 2024 Astronomy in Chile Educator Ambassadors Program (ACEAP), offering a rare insider’s look at Chile’s world-class observatories and their impact on modern astronomy. Her presentation will highlight visits to the Vera C. Rubin Observatory and the high-altitude Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA). Susan will share her unique experiences while highlighting the critical role Rubin and ALMA will play in the future of astronomy, from uncovering the origins of the universe to mapping the ever-changing night sky in ways never before possible. Very few people outside of professional astronomers will ever step inside these facilities, but Susan will bring her audience along for the journey.
