With so much uncertainty surrounding us, many folks are exploring homeschooling as an option this year. Several questions swirl around:
-
Is it a good fit for my family?
-
How do I get started?
-
Where can I find books and curriculum?
-
Are there laws I need to know about?
-
Can my children and I survive this and keep our sanity intact?
-
How can we stay connected with friends?
In this workshop, we'll discuss all these questions, and more, and guide you through setting up a course of study. We'll also take an encouraging big-picture look at the purpose of education. Join in the discussion of the What, Why, Whether and How of home education.
Based in Chesterfield, Leslie Burns has been homeschooling and teaching classes for over 20 years, using a variety of methods, platforms and co-operative ventures. She educates her youngest daughter with a combination of in-home individual instruction, live on-line classes , and a pod that gathers weekly. She enjoys walks, naps, and distance swimming; her nerdy passions are grammar, logic, and debate. She loves equipping parents for whatever education adventure arises.
